The incredible reimagining of the ironworks is neither park nor landscape in the traditional sense; it was unique at the time and has since formed the benchmark for site and land reclamation, as well as the creative reuse of industrial space.
The buildings have been put to creative use, from conference centres to play parks, rock climbing, music venues, arts centres, and even Europe’s largest indoor diving centre in an old gasometer. The DNA of the site is there and celebrated, and I love the way nature is fully reclaiming the less-used areas. It is teeming with nature in and between the old structures. The entire site is threaded together with footpaths, cycleways, and small leisure functions, and there is art everywhere.
An ongoing project capturing the site through the change of seasons.
